Upcoming events Anderson Center for the Arts in Red Wing Minnesota Saturday, September 12, 2009 A wonderful FREE event for children and families! Meet some of Minnesota's finest authors and illustrators, book sales and signings, readings, slide presentations, story telling, marble playing, book making, magic, face painting, balloons, ice cream, puppets, stilts, creative activities and more! Minnesota children’s authors and illustrators who will make personal appearances: Lauren Stringer, John Coy, Lynne Jonell, Chris Monroe, Connie Van Hoven, Ed Wargin, Kathy-jo Wargin, Mike Wohnoutka, Pat Bauer, Nancy Carlson, Stan Fellows, Stephen Gammell, David Geister, Janet Graber, Lise Lunge-Larsen, Susan Marie Swanson, and Anne Ursu. The Celebration will offer book sales by the Red Balloon Book Shop, book signings and readings by authors, slide presentations and talks by illustrators, bookmaking workshops for both children and parents, and an extensive gallery display of book illustrations. The Kerlan Collection, one of the finest children’s literature research libraries in the nation, will offer displays of rare manuscripts and illustrations. Also appearing will be popular balloon-man Dave Olson, Minnesota marble champion Tom Fletcher, the ever-popular musician Jack Pearson, and magician Kristoffer Olson. Other features include read-aloud sessions with BookPALS/StoryLine Readers at the top of the landmark water tower, bookmaking workshops with the Minnesota Center for the Book Arts, “steamroller art” with ArtOrg of Northfield, and fun filled family activities with Picture Window Books, Art Reach, and the Red Wing Arts Association. Special appearances will be made by Maud Hart Lovelace and Ronald McDonald. In addition, there will be a puppet making troupe, face painting, displays of handmade toys by Banbury Cross Toy Company, and much more.
